This Darling Adventure- Change of Address

So my blog has made a little move!  It is now going to be thisdarlingadventure.blogspot.com.  And this will be the last post I do here on WordPress.  You can follow me on Bloglovin here to get the updates! Or click the link to the new site and email subscribe to get future posts.  As of now, I only have 8 posts under my belt, so I thought if I was ever planning to swap providers, the sooner the better.

I am graduating from college in a the next few weeks and will have much more free time.  And with that I want to pour a lot more energy into my blog.  One of my most cherished friends, Pam Bearden, over at Flourishing, is helping me to completely redesign the blog in a way that really fits my personality.  I am so very excited to watch the new blog evolve into a beautiful place that I can express myself! I thank each and every one of you for investing in my story so far and would love for you to keep in touch as I make this move. Wishing you all the best in your very own darling adventures!  –Meg

Our First Place

About a month ago, Zac asked me “If you could live anywhere in the city, where would be your dream spot?”  Without hesitation my answer was the FULTON COTTON MILL LOFTS.

And with that we have some extremely exciting news. We just found out yesterday that we got approved for an apartment there!! I’ve been bursting at the seams for the past week while I waited to hear back from the leasing office and now that I have confirmation I just can’t contain my excitement!  Yesterday we were able to go over and view the exact apartment layout that ours will be so that I can start formulating plans! We’ve already been talking through so many potential ideas that we have for the space and I just wanted to share with ya’ll a few of the photos as well!

Another fun fact that my grandmother shared with us earlier this week is that my great-grandparents (her parents) were both employees of the cotton mill back when it was in use and that is where they met!  How sweet is that! We decided it was definitely meant to be after she told us that story!

I LOVE natural light so my favorite aspect of the loft is the windows in the living room/kitchen space that stretch the entire length of the wall! (Photo cred to the lovely Shelby)

Hope you enjoyed the glimpse! I am so looking forward to being able to play with this space and transform it into our first home! What kind of things would you do in a space like this?

Daily Doodles

Doodling in a sketchbook has become a nightly routine for me.  I’ve found it to be the perfect way to express myself and be able to dwell on certain things that really moved me.  These were a few of my favorites from last night!

Happiness is only real, when shared.

*Happiness is only real, when shared.*

One of my all time favorite movies is Into the Wild.  It’s so inspirational to me and the nature is gorgeous. But this particular quote really resonated with me in realizing how important other people are in your own pursuit of happiness.  No matter what you are pursuing or how hard you try, at the end of the day, what really puts that smile on your face is being able to come home and share the details of the day with someone special.

*you are my greatest adventure*

*you are my greatest adventure*

This took me back to the days when I was trying to decide what the purpose in writting this blog would be… It wound up being to document this amazing adventure with the love of my life.  Zac is indeed the greatest adventure I have ever embarked on & I am so happy to know it’s an adventure that will never end.

*There are far better things ahead than any we leave behind*

One of my favorite quotes!  C.S. Lewis is such a brilliant mind. To me, it is the perfect reminder to keep your eyes fixed on the hope of the future rather than in the past.  Your story is only getting better from here!

I draw lots of my inspiration from Pinterest.  I could spend hours on that site. If you don’t have a Pinterest, I definitly suggest you sign up for one. And if you already have one, follow the link to my profile at pinterest.com/meg_gleason and you can share all my inspirations with me!

A New Venture

Welp.. Here it goes.  MY FIRST BLOG POST.  I’ve been wanting to start my own blog for several months now but couldn’t build up the courage. Or better yet the inspiration.

Now, I have it!  These past few weeks have been filled with an overwhelming sense of freedom and inspiration for me.  So from that I have built up enough bravery to start this new venture!

Seeing that this is my first post.. Wanted to give a little ABOUT ME & BACKGROUND on my blogs name.

I’m Meg Gleason. Soon to be Meg Brooks :) Yep, I’m engaged and getting married in June!! I love to create, hope to inspire, & long to be inspired.

Since I am on the path to being a newly wed, I am facing lots of changes and decisions I’ve never had to deal with before.  This was my main reason for starting the blog now. It will give me a place to share the do’s and dont’s along the way and also share some DIY’s and decor projects that I take on in preparation for moving into our first place!

Leading me to.. the reason I chose the name THIS DARLING ADVENTURE.  I’m a little obsessive when it comes to words sometimes.  I like to look up the true meanings of things in the dictionary. So… that’s what I did. Darling has always been a word I thought was underused.  It seems like such a word of endearment to me.

The dictionary said that darling meant…

dearly loved; favorite; very pleasing; charming.

And adventure means…

an exciting or very unusual experience; participation in exciting undertakings.

And since many of these posts will be geared toward me starting my life with my fiance, Zac, I thought both of these words, DARLING & ADVENTURE, described perfectly the way I anticipate our lives coming together as one!
That about sums it up. Hope you enjoy! Would love to hear any feedback or constructive criticism as to how I can make it better for you readers. Or what you’d like to read about!
XO.   Meg
